Individual therapy provides a supportive, confidential space focused on you, helping to improve emotional wellbeing, nervous system regulation, and resilience. Drawing on trauma-informed therapy, attachment-based approaches, and contemporary neuroscience, sessions focus on increasing safety, emotional capacity, and self-awareness.

As the nervous system settles, patterns of reactivity soften, emotional insight deepens, and new responses begin to emerge. Individual counselling can support people experiencing anxiety, stress, trauma, depression, grief, life transitions, and relationship challenges, as well as those seeking personal growth and meaningful change.

EMDR Therapy (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing)

Michelle is a Clinical Member with PACFA and has training in EMDR Therapy, an evidence-based trauma therapythat helps people heal from distressing or overwhelming life experiences.

When difficult events occur, the brain can sometimes store memories in a way that keeps them feeling raw and emotionally charged. This may lead to anxiety, triggers, panic, negative self-beliefs, and patterns that feel hard to change.

EMDR therapy works by helping the brain safely reprocess traumatic memories, allowing them to be stored in a healthier way. During EMDR sessions, you briefly focus on a memory while engaging in bilateral stimulation, such as guided eye movements or tapping. This supports the brain’s natural ability to process and integrate experiences.

Over time, memories that once felt overwhelming often become less distressing. Many clients report feeling calmer, more in control, and able to move forward without being held back by the past.

EMDR is a structured, collaborative therapy that works at your pace, helping you process trauma while building emotional resilience and nervous system regulation.

Gestalt Psychotherapy

Michelle holds Advanced Clinical Training in Contemporary Gestalt Psychotherapy, a relational and experiential approach that focuses on self-awareness, emotional healing, and authentic connection.

In Gestalt therapy, the therapeutic relationship itself becomes a safe space to explore how you relate to others, how past experiences influence the present, and what supports meaningful change. By increasing awareness of feelings, needs, and relational patterns, Gestalt therapy supports healing from childhood trauma, improved communication, and deeper alignment with who you truly are.

This approach is effective for relationship issues, anxiety, trauma, low self-esteem, and personal growth.

Resource Therapy / Parts Therapy

Michelle holds Clinical qualifications in Resource Therapy, a trauma-informed parts therapy that works with different aspects of personality (similar to the idea in the film Inside Out).

Often, the part of us that shows up in daily life is not the part that needs healing. Resource Therapy helps identify and work directly with the parts that hold pain, trauma, or protective patterns. This can create faster, deeper, and longer-lasting change.

This approach draws on Internal Family Systems (IFS) and parts-based psychotherapy, and can effectively support:

  • Trauma and PTSD
  • Anxiety and depression
  • Addiction and behavioural patterns
  • Relationship difficulties
  • Emotional regulation challenges

Trauma Therapy

Trauma therapy with Michelle offers a gentle, safe and supportive space to process trauma, complex trauma, and overwhelming life experiences. Using EMDR, Resource Therapy, and Gestalt Psychotherapy, Michelle helps clients work through memories and emotions at a manageable pace.

The focus is on restoring safety, choice, and empowerment, while building resilience and self-compassion. Trauma therapy can help you move beyond survival patterns and reconnect with your strengths, relationships, and the life you want to create.
